Oh, I totally agree. I felt like gnashing my teeth the very moment I heard about these changes, because I had this feeling it would change the dynamic which made me adore the show so much too drastically. I won't disagree that Supernatural's got a serious lack of female characters - but the ones they've created aren't ones I want to watch, and the show, IMO, wasn't structured to include these female characters in particular. Some shows just don't call for female representation. Kripke could have written it for a brother/sister combo or a sister/sister combo. But he didn't, and the brother/brother...it works magnificently.
If they keep going down the Jo/Ellen road, I fear I'll be miserable and depressed.
