First lines meme
Aug. 30th, 2008 10:08 amAll right. I've got a tummy ache on top of wicked Girl Thing issues, so I'm avoiding any real activity for the moment. Figured I might as well do this meme, though I'm not sure I remember which stories are my last twenty. Hmmm.
Post the first lines from your last 20 stories and look for patterns.
1) Meghan Schmidt couldn’t believe she’d let herself get talked into playing the stupid game in the first place.
2) Children ran through the gutters reeking of waste, oblivious to the fact life was so much better mere steps away.
3) Dean ran.
4) There was no warning.
5) In his dreams, the moon was always full and the night hazy blue.
6) Sam Winchester knew his concern for Dean smothered his brother, and so of late he had tried harder to stem any outward displays of it.
7) The sun gleamed down from high in the sky, casting a cheery glow onto the Earth.
8) When they were in Lemmon, South Dakota, working on what they (mostly Dean) suspected was a bogus case, Dean came back with dinner one night and discovered Sam at it in their motel room.
9) He heard rolling thunder and the echoes of his own voice screaming and an ocean of static and sobbing and keening and nothing, nothing, nothing was right and never would be again.
10) Sam stared down at Jake.
11) The ceiling of the motel room was cracked with little hairline fractures that looked kind of like cobwebs to him.
12) “You promised me, Dean, and I know that it was shitty of me to do,” Sam said.
13) “Don’t be scared, Dean.”
14) Special Agent Tony DiNozzo shoved the last bite of his breakfast burrito into his mouth and chewed it haphazardly.
15) Mary Winchester’s sleep had been restless for a while, primarily due to the humid heat of summer but also because the baby had only very recently started sleeping through the night.
16) Dean was being a total pain in the ass.
17) He didn’t mind snow that much, except for the fact Baby didn’t do well with it.
18) Dean hated his father very much.
19) “Are you sure this is what we’re supposed to be doing with it?” Daniel said with a grimace. “It feels kind of uncomfortable.”
20) Charlie Eppes blew at an errant curl of hair.
All this really tells me, personally, is that I haven't written much lately. I had to go back two years for some of these. Yikes.
