Photos from the graveyard
Jun. 15th, 2008 02:58 pmI've been starting to think about storing all my acceptable photos on a website, or on a place like Photobucket or Flickr. Yesterday I actually started doing the website thing, and then started thinking about whether or not I should put a little watermark on the photos or just post them unmarked. Except not really - I didn't think so much as start doing, and in rushing forward failed to save unmarked copies for myself. ARGH. They must be loaded here or on Photobucket, but now there's extra work involved.
And now I don't know if I want to carry forward with the website idea. Hmmmm. It sucks being so wishy washy!
Anyway, today it's sunny and gorgeous out so I spent a good chunk of time wandering through Mt. Pleasant next door. I didn't think about how many people would be there paying respects to dearly departed fathers, so I didn't poke around as much as I would have liked. I felt sort of disrespectful. I'll undoubtedly go back again later, and then explore the cemetery by work, which is about four blocks away. Seriously, what is it with me and cemeteries? I live and work near them.
I was only satisifed with a handful of shots. I love sunny days, but I have to say that even with a digital camera, it's tough for me to tell if a shot is decent or not until I get inside. I'm fairly well blinded by the sun.

Slightly modified:

Sunglasses-filtered, and slight tweaking with contrast:

There was this section tucked away among the trees and debris and weeds, which I found rather sad and melancholic. The first set here look so forlorn, don't they? Abandoned.

I was going to try to color this one into something more sepia, but the green is so striking I just left it.

I told my dad that in his honor I was going to tromp around a graveyard. He told me that sounded like something I would do. But he's one to talk. He told me for Father's Day, he, Mom and my sister and her family were grilling...mourning doves. My family is eating MOURNING DOVES! Does that not seem like a bird which should firmly be on the "do not eat" list to anyone but me? I told Dad this, and he told me to stop being such a tree-hugging liberal.
