Spoke with Mom yesterday. Some good news, some bad. My dad's only remaining sibling has been placed in a nursing home (he's only 73) because he's getting quite senile already. The doctors seem to think it has something to do with his diabetes, though I couldn't really tell you how. Dad's very distressed about it, what with Wally being his only brother and the aforementioned fact that Wally is the only one left.
A friend of the family been battling prostate cancer for years. He has fought hard, but now no longer has the strength. Chances are, he'll be gone before September. I wish I had been able to see him one last time - he is truly one of the best people I have ever known.
*sniff*
It's strange to think that while all these depressing things are happening there's also new life. Little A. (my mom agrees with me about Austin and is going to see if she can call him AJ.) should be making his grand arrival home within a couple of days, and my little sister is due the early part of September (rooting for a boy on this one, too).
