How do people justify to themselves saying things like, "The death rate isn't bad enough for shutting down everything." or "The people dying are already compromised, frail or sick."?

Like, what IS the magic ratio for them? And the value of a life is not based on the person's age or health, and dismissing the danger as only impacting people who are sick is just gross.

Ironically, both things came from someone who is a devout Catholic, the "every sperm is sacred" religion. Apparently life is only precious if its still in the womb? I don't know. Gross.

I had to just walk away. Couldn't even point out the death rate would likely be very much higher if we had let it just run rampant, didn't have the energy to combat her. Am I tired of not being able to simply stroll into Home Depot for my needed spring gardening stuff? Sure, but it's not the end of the world.

Also, I am for a slow reopen, but I simply don't trust people to be reasonable. As demonstrated by people claiming their civil liberties are being infringed on by the government because they're being asked to stay home most of the time.
