1969

I enjoy the heck out of this episode every time I watch it. Sure the science is probably hinky and I definitely have to fastforward through that excruciating scene with Catherine, but overall it's a very fun 42 minutes of television. It's an exceedingly quotable episode, have you ever noticed that? I don't have anything of substance to say, no major meta, though I've always wondered about the fates of Michael and Jenny.

Quotes:

"What is she doing?"
"Uh, she said something about having to time the calculations exactly right this time of year."
"This time of year? What difference does it make?"
"Oh, she said something about solar…" [pause] "uh…well, to be honest with you, I wasn't really paying attention."
"Really?" (<-- LOL, what a cute way to start the episode, eh? I love this little conversation.)

"Abort!"
"Abort!"
"Abort!" (<-- For some reason I really enjoy Jack shouting that. *shrugs*)

"Well, I'll tell you what. Get us back home and we'll say it never happened."
"Or get us back before we left and it won't happen."

"Nyet."
"Daniel?"
"He just asked if we were Soviet spies. I just…" (<--Daniel's mental "d'oh!" here)
"Come with me."
"Sure. You bet. Nyet?"

"Captain James T. Kirk, of the Starship Enterprise."
"Eh…your dog tags say otherwise."
"They're lying."

"Weapon?"
"Our cameras saw some sort of weapon."
"Oh. Well, it's hard to say."
"Some sort of state secret?"
"No, just difficult to pronounce." (<-- This one always makes me laugh.)

"Hmm. Bob...can I call you Bob?"

"Ooh. All right. I'll be honest with you, Bob. My name's not Kirk. It's Skywalker. Luke Skywalker." (<-- *snicker*)

"Or…"
"I can't think of an 'or' at the moment, sir."
"No 'or?'"
"There's an 'or.'"
"There's an 'or?'"
"Sir, you can't just will something to happen because you want it to be a certain way."
"Captain…where there's a will, there's an 'or.'"

"Well, I speak 23 different languages. Pick one."

"This method appears to be ineffective." (<-- Mostly, I love how Teal'c watches Carter fail to hitch a ride (seriously, why was it Sam's job to find a ride? Because she's a woman? Pffft.) and gets so annoyed.)

"I'm Michael."
"I am not at liberty to reveal my identity."
"Far out."

"So, uh.. your thing…that thing, uh…what's it symbolize? Peace?"
"Slavery. To false gods."
"Right on! So, um, it's made out of…"
"Do not discuss it further."
"I dig."

"You know, man…the war."
"The war with Canada?"
"No." (<--Teal'c and Michael are GOLD, man.)

"Listen, I really have to say this. The two of you have been unbelievably…"
"Groovy."
"Groovy, I think, is the word."
"Uh, the people of our world will be extremely grateful."
"Not the establishment, mind you."
"No. Not…not them."

"Teal'c? Daniel? I hardly recognized you with hair." (<-- I've actually always been annoyed by this, but Daniel's reaction is just too cute.)

"Oh, by the way, Colonel…with interest, you owe me five hundred thirty-nine dollars and fifty cents." (<-- Is that all?)

So. That's it. An episode in quotes. I'm such a cheater.
