Gack, I just swallowed my gum.

Reconciling this particular group of transactions makes me sob like a little child.

Why do people insist that it doesn't really matter whether or not there's an H at the end of Sara or not? It does matter. They're different names, even if they sound the same. If my name were Sara (or Sarah), it would bug me that people use the spellings as interchangeable. Just saying.

Is it 4:30 yet?

It does matter. The only person I've met who spelled it Sara pronounced it Sar-(rhymes with scar)-ra. So there was never any question of mistaking it for Sarah - completely different names.

So now it really confuses me when I see 'Sara' written down, as to me it'll always be Sar-ra and I don't know who they're talking about. If I'm going to read about a person whose name is pronounced Sair-rah, then I have to do a quick search and replace.

At the moment I'm constantly thrown by NCIS fic with Ziva in that refers to her as 'David'. My brother-in-law is David - I'll always hear it as a bloke's name in my head.

It's like when someone types out my name as Keri, or Kerrie. Or even Carrie. Not exactly my name...

My daughter's name has an 'h' at the end of it because I wanted it there. It changes the dynamics of the name, IMO. No 'h', not her name. My name has an 'a' at the end of it. Not an 'e' or an empty space. No 'a', not my name. My mother would correct people left and right if they called me by that other name.

Grrrrr.

:)

Ha. For got Big Miss' name. Hers has an 'i' in it, not a 'y'. That actually changes the pronunciation though.

My entire name is a joy of mis-spelling and mis-pronounciation.

Yup.

My name is Kelly. Not Kelli or Kellie or Kelley or (and I've seen it this way!) Celli. Each of those may sound alike, but is Not. My. Name.

People who don't get it probably have a name that can't be misspelled or misprounounced.

You know my brother in law, don't you?
