When was the last time the guys referenced John's journal?
Did they open it during Metamorphosis?

In the Beginning I think, at least I can't remember them opining it since that one. Not in Metamorphosis I just checked and I'm pretty sure Dean does the research on the coin in Wishful Thinking on the computer. The only other one I can think of it might be in would be the Heaven and Hell - where they research the fallen angel and the comet stuff, but I don't think they use the journal somehow. Yellow Fever maybe? Bobby works that one out and brings the research to Sam..

I am sure they don't use it in Metamorphosis, but not 100% they haven't used it since - I can do some double checking if it's important for details?

I think I'll stick mainly to the point that it once was integral and now is more of an afterthought.
