Comic Con poster reveal: Red Sonja.

Shall I list all the ways this is so, so, SO wrong, or would any of you like to take a stab at it? No pun intended.

It's amazing how overtly sexualized the industry can make an image of a woman, even in such a close shot, eh?

Eeew.

That's just plain nasty.

And if I were Rose McGowan I'd be looking to get myself an agent who ensures I have veto rights over dubiously-cleavaged mock-porn posters.

I think "ew" doesn't even begin to describe my reaction. But then I don't have a penis, so I'm not in their target audience anyway.

Even though I often joke about "porny" stuff, it's generally not visual images. It's also not movie posters that will be seen by all ages.

My mother is dealing with a work situation now in which some of her co-workers are going ga-ga over a girl that is, in some of their cases, young enough to be their granddaughter. They've been blinded by the implants and are letting the little head do all their thinking when she's around.

So I guess, unfortunately, Hollyweird does know the target audience. Or are they creating it with imagery like this?

I'm not saying there aren't images of hot men out there, but...how many of them, really, are overtly sexualized like this?

The irony? Most of the more overt sexualized imagery of men... is often still made for men. Straight women are not necessarily the target audience.

I think it's a cycle. HW makes it, the audience thinks "I must like this... I guess I do!" and HW thinks, "They liked that - so once more again with feeling." Like a series of escalating dares.

That image is nasty. In addition to the obvious, her tongue is weird and sparkly. It reminds me of some sparkly modeling clay I made earrings out of.

Ugh.

I dunno, but now all I can think to call her is "Fimo Tongue." I doubt that's what they were going for.
