Death by BO

Seriously.

I'm dying. Super D. encountered a computer programming problem he could not remedy himself and has brought in a socially inept geek who refuses to wear deodorant or anti-perspirant. It wasn't so bad at first, but we're hitting hour three and I might die before it's over.

My office reeks. The hallway reeks. All the way back to the servant's stairs reeks (this involves the smell snaking down the hallway, around a corner, down four stairs, around another corner, down some more stairs...).

Yikes!

My sympathy. We don't usually get the lingering BO, but instead the smelly diapers and pre-teen boy smells. (Especially if they've had beans or something similar on the hot lunch menu.)

We keep a can of orange spray under the desk, and whip it out inconspicuously to squirt around the problem. Then if anyone gets irritated, we just say someone must have been eating oranges.

Guess that doesn't help much though, unless you can run out to the store soon...

GAH! It shouldn't be too hard to fake a little nausea and get out of there, I should think. I know it isn't exactly honest but there's no need to make yourself sick for real. :(

I second the citrus recommendation. We get a few patrons with serious BO issues, and a light citrus scent is good at killing the odor instead of making it worse.

I can't understand why some people can't or won't observe basic hygiene. I'm reminded of a con I've been to that has in the rules "we can't enforce it, but for everyone's sake, take a shower every day of the con."

Sadly, they are virtual clothes pins and frebreeze.

It is socially acceptable to follow these people around with a can of odor spray or Lysol. :D
