Apparently for VD, LJ is withholding comment notifications. Yays!

I've come to the conclusion that Supernatural fandom is filled with way too much spam. Spam fic, spam pics. Spam everything. Don't people have other things to do? Don't get me wrong, I love Supernatural, but jeez. The icon posts alone are out of control. Just saying.

I didn't get my comment notifications, either. Wtf, LJ.

I had to take the SPN newsletter off because it was just. so. huge.

There is a lot of spam. A lot of "me too" posts or silly comments on entries, too. I think some of it is because Supernatural seems to be a young fandom. Young, because the show is only in mid-season two, and young because the characters are fairly young, so it does attract many younger viewers, and this is their first (or maybe second) fandom. And they do have more time on their hands than people with jobs and family responsibilties and bills and other later-life concerns.

It seems to make for a lot of repetition.

I don't even look at icons anymore, I only read fics that look interesting, and it's still hard to keep up! My pet peeve is the amount of cross-posting of fics on different communities though. I hate having six of my 20 entries per page being the same fic. Oh well.

hehe Yeah, that's my biggest complaint, too: all the cross-posting--not just of fic, but of icons, picspams, and pretty much everything else you can imagine. If someone posts it, they usually post it everywhere. *g* It drives me nuts, even though I unfriended most of the fic communities.

I actually love the newsletter, because I can glance through it and decide if I want to read a story or not or whatever, and whether I read it or not, I don't have to see it on my flist 6 or 10 times. *g*

Yeah, I agree. It drives me nuts. Two or three times or more I've unfriended most communities because everyone posts the same exact stuff to every single community, and I still end up with too much spamming of icons, fics, and piscpam on my flist.

I get it that some communities want to be all-inclusive and some want to specialize, so, okay, post your icons to one of the general communities and then to [livejournal.com profile] spn_icons. If they are specifically Jensen icons (i.e. not SPN icons but made from promos or whatever), then post them to the Jensen community too. And that's it. *g*

The same could apply to fics and everything else.

When you compound that with the fact that so many people write fic and make icons, that's a lot of posts.
