Oh, snap! It's the hairband.

I was the kind of kid who wouldn't be able to go anywhere if her shoes felt "loose" or uneven. I'd tighten the loose shoe, then have to tighten the other to match and then back to the first one again, because it felt loose again. I'd come home with grooves on the top of my feet from how tightly I'd tied my laces...and my pinkie fingers were callused from tugging at them.

So I've been having headaches lately and I just realized, while they started out as caffeine-withdrawal, they continued because I was pulling my ponytail/bun so very tight. I don't know how I'm going to fix that problem, because I really can't stand it if it feels like my hair's going to fall out of whatever arrangement I have it in.

I've pretty much given up on my hair. :( I know it'll fall out, no matter what. I just hope for the best!

Tell that to the chunk that falls into my eyes. *grumble*

I found some little mini banana clips that are very rounded (they stick out further than traditional ones) and the teeth are sort of ribbed on the inside, to grip your hair (but not at all in a snaggy way). They make my hair feel more secure than a ponytail band, and my hair is wild, thick, curly stuff that knows combat maneuvers and is Special Forces trained for getting out of standard restraint devices. ;)

Oh, I know what you mean about the drugstore aisle. I'm just waiting for flavored hair implements.

My hair is fine and soft, too - just really thick and curly. So it COULD be that what works for me would work for you.

Also, you can try doing your pony tail thingie less tight. ;)

Yeah, I had a hair dresser do mine a few times, and it looked so fabulous. Then I went to Hollywood to sit at a cafe - it's a little more humid in that part of town. FFFPT went my hair - little frizzies, curlies and flyaways everywhere. I really don't think anything controls hair very well.

On a slightly nuttier note, I was watching Brisco County recently and wondering how those women kept their perfect little curls so lovely back then, and was the weather any different, and did they use some natural something like pig lard that we would never use now... and then it hit me: IT'S A TV SHOW, NOT THE ACTUAL WILD WEST, IDIOT. Sometimes I'm not at all proud of my brain. *g*

... which is why I've given up on long hair (putting it into a ponytail or anything *up* would give me horrible pains in my scalp) and I now have wash and wear hair.

Wait, how are curls good for short hair? If I cut mine short, the curls look hilarious - very Shirley Temple. If I cut it short, which I prefer, I have to straighten it - which looks great until a slightly humid breeze makes it revert to form.

So I have to have long hair in order to have wash and wear hair, because of my curls. It's a pain in the ass, and I hate it.
