By the way, the Monorail is Seattle's bete noir. I'd forgot about the wee accident the trains had this weekend, until I walked under them.

It's sad this city can't get its act together about this - it could really do well with an elevated train system that runs more than a short mile.

What surprised me about downtown Seattle was the FREE subway. No, it didn't go past downtown but it went enough places I wanted to go and was immaculate. Why isn't that listed in guidebooks? Heck, we have friends over on Whidbey who didn't even know there was a subway.

Do...d'you mean the bus tunnel? It's, sadly, closed for renovations/light rail additions.

I don't know what the city planners were thinking when the didn't push for an extensive monorail and/or subway system. Ah, well. What do I know? There could be geographic reasons for it.
