I think sometimes people just run out of time when reading longer fics or something. I personally get more comments on some of my SPN drabbles than I've ever got on a longer fics (but even my longest fics fit in one post). I personally love a good long fic. I have several on my "to read" list, but it takes me longer to get around to reading them these days.
