Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] el1ie.

First, dealing with this Sam from the end of Mystery Spot - his memories from that time must be so real, horrendously hard to get kicked back into a reality where Dean is once again with him - show is going to ignore this isn't it?

Oh, I hope not. It's really unfortunate they switched episodes around. I think Mystery Spot could have ended the truncated season just fine, and that way it wouldn't be strange for the guys to be acting "normal" so soon after.

Second I loved the way Sam thinks about his father in this and worries about his inherited tendencies for revenge, worries that the darkness in him is all he has if Dean his light is gone. I liked that very much, how Sam knows he needs Dean more than anything, more that Dean will ever understand - especially after Kripke seems intent on kicking Dean's similarities to his father.

There seems to be a tendency to paint John as a supreme A-hole, now that he's dead and gone (which, btw, I still hate they did), and how that makes Dean a chump for idolising his own father. It's not fair, and I don't think it's great storytelling. But that's another post. ;)

Third is the wonderful way you have of inserting the reader into each and every scene with clear descriptions that are not so overwritten as to leave little to the imagination - that's a skill you've always had and it's still very strong here.

Thank you for this. I've been told I tend to overwrite, so I'm paranoid about it now. Sometimes I do go overboard, but sometimes I think it's merited.

Fourth is the description of Dean's running habits in boots and leather - that's absolutely true. I've always been annoyed that we never, ever see either brother practice any of their supposed skills and that's a shame but if I ever see Dean change into sweats and running shoes? I'll laugh my arse off because this description of yours? That's Dean!

Tee hee. I see where you're coming from, but I can't figure out how they'd integrate training sessions into the show. I keep envisioning cheesy music montages, ala Rocky.

Thank you again - I enjoy your reviews, and I'm happy you enjoyed the ficlet. :)
