This might be random, but I just want to point out that I think Dean is important on other levels, too, not just when it's All About Sam.
Oh, I agree completely! Theirs is a partnership, however the balance tends to fluxuate and change, but then given all they've been through and all they've done, separately and individually, changes are inevitable. It's how they get through those changes that fascinate me, because the one constant is simply ... they love each other. LOL, even when they may not always like each other. Everything else can and does blow up in their faces, but after all the smoke and screaming, that bond is what keeps the pieces from exploding into irretrevable bits.
After all, with Dad gone, each is pretty much the only barometer or compass the other has. I keep meaning to write a meta, one day, about how living a life on the road really *does* insulate one into this little portable bubble of a two-person society, where the rest of the world is "outside". So they do compliment and support and reaffirm each other.
Anyhow ... lol, sorry, my turn to tangent! :-p But I agree with you completely. I'm neither a Dean girl or a Sam girl, I'm a Sam-n-Dean girl, and I love what they are and what they do for each other. Though sometimes what they do is truly scary ....
