I can't really disagree with anything you wrote here. I adore S3 Daniel, too.
Season 3 is my 3rd favorite season overall, because it was still the show I loved and the characters were still the characters I loved, but it was already changing a bit in small ways. The characters seemed less connected, even in emotional episodes like Legacy. There are still lots of good episodes, though, and many good moments in the episodes, even in one like POV where the premise is so lame and, as you stated, they didn't do much with the whole AU thing.
I never loved Kawalsky either. How did they spell his name later?
