I just looked at my first apartment, and BOY am I thoroughly depressed now. The price was right. It wasn't a terrible apartment, but my loveseat would have taken up every inch of space in the "living room."
I will not mention the "bedroom" or the horrendous condition of the bathtub (I've found that bathtubs are frequently deal-breakers for me. I won't rent a place where the bathtub will not ever look clean no matter how much a person scrubs it.).
The manager also helpfully showed me a studio, which will be available mid April. It was the size of my office here. For an office, lots of space. For a living area? Not so much. Oh, and the price was $800.
*whimper*
Even half knowing what to expect going into this, I'm still less than hopeful in success in the near future. Thank goodness I don't have to move.
Also, I have a terrible headache in my eye.

There are some even within the building I'm living in now that I can't believe the owner didn't have resurfaced. I know it's expensive, but I'm telling you - bathrooms are a Big Deal, especially for female renters. Of the apartments I looked at when I was here (not that I had much of a choice - I was basically assigned this apartment), this was the only one that had a satisfactory bathroom.

When we moved to my parents' home in Maine, it didn't even have a bathroom. Well, actually, it had one by the time we moved in, but the previous owners had never had a bathroom, and this was in 1978.
