I really have been enjoying watching JA DA. I think the show was just shaping up when it was yanked. I hate when that happens. And who couldn't love Alec to bits by the end, but he always got the shaft in the attitude of everyone else. Poor, misunderstood boy. He should come over to my house. I get him.

I think he changed quite a lot from beginning to end, but in a logical way. And I find myself more interested in his story than Max/Logan...though as far as ships go, I don't mind that one; it was integral to the story from the very beginning.

I'm finding that I love Dark Angel, once Alec is part of the picture. I do wonder why it wasn't renewed, since it was well written, well acted and had a big name behind it.

But, just when it started to get interesting, it was over. *sigh* There were so many places they could have gone with the Terminal City story.

There's a fanfic author who's written a few alternate seasons to the show. I've read a couple and am enjoying them, up to a point. Alec is basically the main character, although she's paired him up with Max; and Logan seems to go bad in each scenario. (So far, anyway.) Lydecker comes back and alternates between good guy and really bad guy from story to story.

There are a few things that make you go "huh?"...like the fact that every female transgenic seems to go all 'stand by my man and don't speak' once paired up with a breeding partner. There's also quite a lot of sex and Alec keeps getting tortured.

But if you don't mind all that, it's worth checking out. http://www.valjeanfanfiction.com/

I'm pretty sure valjean also made the website I sent to you the other day. I still haven't looked at the whole thing, but I also still recommend the history section, because it's very basic and puts it all into perspective--in chronological order. That may not be important to everyone, but I love having the whole history laid out for me like that.

I also read that long series she had with Max/Alec (the whole thing *g*), and I didn't recommend the stories for just the reason you mentioned. I didn't like the scenario at the expense of Logan either. I don't dislike Logan and I also don't mind Logan/Alec because, as you mentioned, they were integral to the story from the beginning.

From what I can tell, there are only two more episodes of season 2 and so far, I haven't seen any real love triangle either. Logan never showed any signs of jealousy toward Alec until he and Max were on the outs and he saw Alec leaving her apartment in the morning and looking pretty chummy with her--and then Max confirmed it, even though she was lying. Logan had no reason to be jealous of Alec.

For her part, I don't think Max "secretly" loves Alec and not Logan. I think she likes Alec more than she wants to admit to herself, but I don't see it as anything romantic or sexual.

On Alec's part, I think he's very attached to Max. I'm not sure why, but I think it's that she's someone who understands his situation. He doesn't have to explain everything to her and he can be himself around her. He has nothing to hide from her. What I don't get is why he stuck around even though she treated him like crap all the time, but I also think it's because of that connection thing, and maybe because he didn't think he deserved better. Alec is very smart and a leader, but I think that Max is wiser in a lot of ways, probably because of her experiences. That could also be part of what attracts Alec to Max.

Whatever the reason, I really don't know if Alec likes Max as more than just a friend. He seemed to be hurt by what Asha (sp?) said to him at the bar (that she was glad nothing happened).

:::giggle::: I just adore talking about characters as though they're real people. :-D

I do wonder why it wasn't renewed, since it was well written, well acted and had a big name behind it.

I don't know how true this is, but I read...er...somewhere *g*...that it was a similar situation to Farscape & SG-1. The network decided to go with the new series Firefly rather than stick with Dark Angel.

OTOH, I just searched to find where I read this, and I can't remember and can't find it, so maybe I just imagined it. *g* Or maybe I'm mixing it up with something else I read recently. :::sigh:::

I know! I was all, like, but...but what about Alec? Especially since he'd asked Max to meet him at Joshua's. Then he got there and no one was around. Jeez.

Those were my thoughts exactly. Poor Alec. I like how he figured out what happened to Joshua and then went there to check things out, make sure Joshua was okay, but not to talk him out of it. Before all the action stuff happened, he was about to leave with plans to see Joshua again soon.

I think he changed quite a lot from beginning to end, but in a logical way. And I find myself more interested in his story than Max/Logan...though as far as ships go, I don't mind that one; it was integral to the story from the very beginning.

Me too, so I found some of the episodes disappointing. I realize the show was more about Max and Logan in season 1, though, so that makes sense, but I didn't like when they developed Alec's character a bit--and Max's understanding of him--only to have her revert back to her former treatment of him. It almost seemed like they showed some episodes out of order.

As mentioned below, I also don't mind Max/Logan. I like Logan. At first I didn't like Max, but I've learned to be a bit fonder of her now.
