I'm sure the science in this one made people cringe

*nods*

I, too, love the interchange between Jack and Daniel as they embark for the Planet of Light the first time. I realize that money makes it impossible to send through teams of that size every week, but it's more believable to me than four people on foot.

Part of me totally agrees with Sam, and part of me understands Daniel.

It has been a while since I've watched the episode, but as I recall Daniel is flat out wrong. There's no evidence anywhere that "primitive man" (another cringe-worthy term) used rape as a mating behavior. Unless my data is out of date -- other than humans, only the orangutang has been observed to commit rape. But this is probably where I should just nod and say, "yup, bad, bad science and biology and anthropology."

...even if that's not HIS specialty, either, it's closer than theorhetical astrophysics.

Sometimes, I think Jack is writing this show and one scientist is the same as any other. *grin*

I used to feel lukewarm towards this episode. The cliched "devolve/re-evolve" trope is one of my pet peeves - but then I realized that this was Janet's first episode. And I LOVED Janet in it. She sounded like a doctor. She has chemistry galore. She doesn't just play a caring doctor; she IS a caring doctor. Love, love, love Janet. I thought she and Jack had a little sparkage, though I'm glad they didn't pair her off. Not only do I dislike how they write, "romance," but there's something a little odd to me about dating your doctor.

I'll admit it - I loved the Lucy scene. Well, Teal'c's half. CJ does just a perfect straight man. I still laugh out loud each time I see it.

In the end? The episode stank but for the character moments redeem it.
