The best laid plans, yadda yadda
Jun. 16th, 2013 03:16 pmI basically have a week to have the rough draft of a 10,000 word fic done. 10,000 words is not a lot. Yet, I continue to struggle. The plan for today was: get up, vacuum, clean kitchen, bake divine dark chocolate cupcakes with fresh strawberry curd infused with mint and top them with strawberry vegan whipped cream, then write, write, write. This all was to be done by noon.
It's 3:00. I have vacuumed. I have cleaned the kitchen. I have baked ... cupcakes that did not turn out as planned.

Notice how the strawberry whipped cream is, instead, chocolate faux buttercream.
( It started with a strawberry )
Actually, these are not bad cupcakes. I can't taste the mint at all, though, and I'm bummed about that. Also bummed that the whipped cream didn't whip. Last time I attempted this flavor combo, the whipped cream was an afterthought I didn't even use ... and it was the only thing that turned out. Still, can't really complain about a luscious dark chocolate cake with strawberry filing...though I wish I knew why dark cocoa makes a cake crumble so terribly, while regular cocoa doesn't. Hmmm. Next time, I'll try it with actual baking chocolate instead of cocoa to see what happens.
Also, I haven't written anything substantial. Time to get 'er done!
