Heard a ruckus from above. Looked up, saw an eagle being dogged by a smaller bird. I couldn't really tell what it was, assumed crow (foolish presumption, crows tend to go after eagles in groups). It's some kind of other raptor, but for the life of me I can't find any good identifying shots to clue me in. Could be a Merlin. Could be a Peregrine Falcon. I am leaning toward Cooper's Hawk. *shrugs* As it stands, this shot is wholly luck.
And, of course, I kept hiking and found multiple other things to photograph as well. Some days are bountiful!
On the way back home, a mama deer and her tiny, darling fawn crossed the street. I kid you not, my reaction was to clap my hands over my mouth and squeal a little. Fawns are so cute. I mean. Come on.
